Selfsong was Richard's first collection of all original music, recorded in 1982. The current version, available on CD, was remastered from the original analog recordings.

Selfsong has not been available in recorded form for more than 20 years. Numerous requests convinced Richard to make Selfsong available again. It was originally recorded in 1982, using a Teac 4-track reel-to-reel recorder. Although there were some limitations in the original recording as compared to current standards, the CD version has been digitally remastered.
